With a full day ahead, we rendezvoused with our friends at 10:30am for a day of fly fishing in Yellowstone National Park. The park was about a 70 mile drive. Because we had our dog and fishing gear, we drove two cars, but split up the couples. The guys went in one car and Ann and I drove together. Ann packed a wonderful picnic to share before the three of them headed down the bank of the Madison River to fish. Maizy and I stayed behind to read and take pictures…being mindful to stay close to the truck in case a wild animal appeared. The only encounter that I had was seeing a bald eagle.

Conditions were not perfect so the trio moved to two different locations, having marginal luck catching and releasing trout. At sunset, hoping that a “hatch” would emerge, the troop headed down to the Fire Hole River to try their luck. I had more fun taking pictures and watching for wild life. We were able to see elk, bison, raven, osprey and prong horn antelope Stopping for a light supper and crawling into bed about 1:30am, we ended a glorious day of friendship, fresh air and fine fishing.
